i was wrong, and book suggestion request.
2010-10-11 @ 3:30 a.m.

the weekend was surprisingly pleasant. i don't want to get into rambling all about it, because once i start i know i won't be able to stop. but it was good, and i guess my mom is getting less unreasonable in her old age. she's not really old, but you know what i mean.

i forgot to take my sleeping pill on time so i'm still awake at 3:30am. i took it at about 1, but i know it won't start working until 4 or so. it's so frustrating.

for the first and probably only time, i'm going to address you, my "audience." i'm breaking the 4th wall here. what books should i be reading? my favorite genres are scifi, specifically dystopian fiction, female coming of age fiction, speculative fiction, and things of that nature. i hate victorian lit, chuck palahniuk gets on my last nerve, please don't recommend him. and if you even think of telling me to read twilight, i don't think we can be friends anymore. i'm not necessarily against YA fiction, but it has to be good.

here's a list of my favorite books that i can remember off the top of my head:
house of leaves by mark z. danielewski
all of vonnegut and philip k dick's books
anything by david sedaris
microserfs by douglas coupland (made me cry)
never let me go by kazuo ishiguro
close range: wyoming stories (the collection that brokeback mountain came from)
lolita by nabokov
the giver series by lois lowry was fantastic
toni morrison and octavia butler are also awesome.
so were extremely loud and incredibly close and everything is illuminated by jonathan safran foer.

please leave me suggestions, as many as you can think of. i had like $150 in gift cards to b&n and i spent $50 about a month ago on a stack of books which have already been demolished. it's like i eat books for dinner.
