carelessness = expensive lessons learned.

today the plan was for him to come home, us to get together in my basement and watch some movies and wrap some presents, and to have some quality time together since i didn't see him at all last week and this weekend was wild. i got dressed and went to the store to get the stuff for our romantic dinner, and he calls when i'm halfway home to say that his car died just as he got off the highway, and he needed me to come get him, or to tell him what to do, or to help or something. the car died because he neglected his oil changes for so long that the engine seized. a very expensive lesson to learn the hard way. yeah, his car had a ton of miles on it, but it would have made it to the summer. now he's stuck borrowing my car tomorrow, renting a car the rest of this week, and being pressured to buy a car this weekend. he's hoping his grandmother will co-sign for it, but if she doesn't he's in a really tight spot. on a good note, though, the ex claims she was proposed to, so she wants to get divorced asap. he said, "we can do it the easy way or the hard way (with lawyers), so just let me know," and she said she wants the easy way. so he's hoping that's his christmas present from her, so we can all move on with our lives. |
