so fucking yesterday, we had three customers in one of the offices waiting together. one was this older black dude, the other was a woman in a niqab who had her ~12 year old daughter with her (the daughter was wearing a hijab). during lunch, ER tells me that this fucking black guy seriously says to this woman, even after hearing her speak to various employees in her perfectly clear english speech, "what country are you from?" and she's like "uhhh, i was born in philly?" then this dude nods at her and says, NOT jokingly, "you hiding a bomb under there?" ER was like yo, i didn't even know what to do. i was just like omg i'm so sorry. i'm really sorry about that. so later on i had to go over into that office and do some stuff and she was still there, and we started talking. and she's like, did you hear about what that guy said to me earlier? and i literally said, listen. when i heard that i was offended FOR you. i really can't even believe people anymore, and i am really glad i wasn't in here when it happened or there would have been a scene and we probably would have lost a customer. ...................... i have to just stop here with this story because i just wrote this insanely long, angry rant about this situation but it was just making me super riled up and there was no end in sight so i deleted it. suffice it to say, i have really strong feelings about the topic. let's just tl;dr: i feel very passionately that it's not cool to be a racist fucking bigot. |
