it's so strange ... you'd think i'd just sprawl out and enjoy the freedom of the whole bed, but ...

something about it, something about him not being here ...

no slow, deep breath under my cheek
no sweet smelling skin
no hand falling into my face, my hair
no warm, dry toes tucking themselves under my leg

... something about it just isn't right

(but i know he felt the same way without me here, as i returned to my side, undisturbed)
