i would like to describe the progression of the relationship between my boyfriend and my cat in a series of quotes. "i'm not really into animals. i've never really had pets." "i've always thought mini pinschers are cute. maybe i'll get one one day. but i'm definitely not a cat guy." "you know, i'm really not a cat guy, but i don't mind [boy cat]." "you know, i've always said i'm not a cat guy but [boy cat] is pretty cool." i walk in on them playing with a string: "[boy cat] is a pretty fun guy." then to [boy cat]: "good game, buddy." "i like [boy cat] but no cats in bed with us. i just think it's weird." boy wakes up and goes out of the room for work early in the morning and i hear, outside my door: "morning [boy cat]. how ya doin, dude? want to come downstairs with me, buddy? come on!" then, every night before bed: "goodnight, [boy cat]. seeya tomorrow, buddy!" which leads us to the other night, when i walked out of the bathroom to find boy sprawled across the bed, scratching the shit out of [boy cat] while talking to him and kissing his head. i go to take [boy cat] out of the bed and into the other room, since no cats are allowed in bed, and i get: "hey, what are you doing?" "i'm taking him to the other room because you said no cats in bed." "well, i mean, he's already here." "well, i've already got him." "[boy cat]! [boy cat]! i'll miss you, dude! i said you could stay! i'd never do this to you, man! we're bros!! i'll seeya tomorrow, buddy!" not a cat guy. |
