if you turned on dr. phil right now to the episode called "perfectionist moms," you would see a woman who could easily pass for my mother if she was a little more ethnic. it's frightening, right down to the crazy look in her eye. her poor daughter is sitting there saying that she feels so nervous and anxious every time she does anything because she's terrified she's going to fail, because of how her mother will react. this is absolutely horrifying and painful to watch because it's so familiar. i hope these insane women get the point by the end of the show so at least these kids can have some kind of childhood before they get too old and find themselves trapped in an unrecognizable life in an unrecognizable body one day wondering, well, how did i get here? |
