just an update to my entry yesterday: boss and his dad and i were eating and boss asked if i'd seen the news this morning about the migrant father and his infant daughter who were found drowned together trying to enter the country. i had not, because after writing last night i remembered i needed to follow my (former) therapist's advice and stop reading the news if it was stressing me out, which it has been. so boss told me about it, and said that it made him cry, so he took the time to stop and pray for them this morning before leaving for work. then his dad said, illegal or not, no one deserves that. "they are people too." i can never explain this to my parents, who will not understand or care, but this is why i will never leave this job, or these people, no matter how little money i make. they care. they care for me, they care for others, they care for life. they see an image like that and think that it is a tragedy, not an "i told you so." and to me, at least, that means something. |
